Disability Care Nurse Qualifications

All nursing staff whom would like to be considered for work opportunities within the Disability Care sector must have the following legislative requirements:

• Possession of a Certificate III in Disability Services and/or Aged Care, along with current industry experience and employment within the healthcare industry.
• For RN (Registered Nurse) and EEN (Enrolled Nurse) nursing staff, a valid AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration is required.
• Submission of two industry-related references.
• Holding a current Driver's License.
• Documentation confirming the right to work in Australia, such as an Australian Birth Certificate, Australian Passport, or a valid VISA with work rights.
• All employees working in the Disability Support sector must provide an Australian Criminal Record Clearance, obtained from either the Federal Police (Police Service) or a National Police Clearance from the local Police Station. The clearance must not be older than 3 years from the date of issue. Alternatively, a clearance from a CrimTrac accredited agency is acceptable.
• NSW Office of the Guardians of the Children - Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required. Further information and the application process can be found on the OCG (Office of the Children's Guardian) website.
• Preferred qualifications include certifications in Positive Behaviour Support & Deescalation Training and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
• NDISWC (NDIS Worker Screening Check) is mandatory for all NDIS funded supports. If you currently possess an NDISWC, please provide your screening check details.
